Monks and nuns roaming around practicing their religion. Lhasa,the capital of Tibet,is situated at highest altitude in the world. Tibetan mountains and arid wilderness and magnificent views may make you think that your trip was not long enough. Lhasa, some call it the "Roof of the world" and some say it a "lost city". Trip Itinerary
Day 01 Kathmandu / Kodari / Zhangmu (Drive Trek)
We leave Kathmandu behind and hardly look back as beautiful views and snaky rivers on the way to Kodari make us forget everything. When we reach Nepal- China(Tibet) border, we leave our vehicles and head for Khasa which is about one and half hours walk. When you reach Khasa, you will see the real difference. We spend overnight at this place.
Day 02 Zhangmu - Xegar
On second day, we head for Xegar crossing Nyalam Pass and Lalung- La. You will also see majestic himalayas including Mt. Everest. Zhagmu city lies huge fortress. Its in ruin but has not lost it beauty. Over night stay at hotel.
Day 03 Xegar - Xigatse
From Xegar, we head towards Xigatse through Lhatse and Gyatsola pass. Lhatse is the T-cross point to Mt Everest. After that we reach Xigatse, the second biggest city of Tibet and capital of Tsang. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04 Xigatse - Gyantse
In the morning we will visit to the Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Moanastery. After 55 miles, we reach Gyantse. This town is indeed a symbol of ancient Tibet. This city lies about 165 miles southwest of Lhasa.This town used to be a commercial place in the past.
Day 05 Gyantse- Lhasa
Drive via Yamdrok, the Turquoise Lake to Gyangtse across Kampa la pass 5050 m & Karo la (5045 m) passes. Visit Kubum stupa & Pelkor Chode Monastery and many more. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 06 Lhasa
Today we will visit the Jokhant Temple and Golden Shakyamuni Buddha and Barkhor Market. These places hold the true identity of Lhasa. Later, we visit Potala palace - the palace of exiled Dalai Lama. This place is believed to be constructed in 17th century. This 13 floor majestic building has nearly 1000 roooms.
Day 07 Lhasa
Rest day in Lhasa. Visit different places and know more about this forbidden city.
Day 08 Lhasa / Kathmandu (Flight)
